Makers Cornwall is run by a team of dedicated volunteers who are all makers or artists themselves. They all run their own businesses and devote a lot of time to co-ordinating events and planning and running the Makers Cornwall Christmas Fair. They are a very sociable bunch and can often be found at the regular Makers Cornwall meet ups all around the county.
Hi! Sally here, illustrator, maker and accidental historian. Lover of buildings, social history, hubby Dave and the colour yellow.
I have been involved with Etsy and Makers Cornwall since moving to Cornwall nine years ago, and since the end of Lockdown I’ve been the Chair of the Makers Cornwall Team, a job that is a joy to do. My favourite task is doing the stallholder layout for the Makers Cornwall Christmas Fair.
I’m a graphic designer who specialises in the branding for small creative businesses. I’ve worked as a designer, a creator, a maker, a gardener and a business owner all my adult life and love nothing better than discussing it all with other creative people.
Makers Cornwall was the perfect fit for me – I struggled to find support as a maker, one of the reasons I decided to refocus back to design. I started going to the Makers Cornwall meet ups and get more involved in 2021. I’m surrounded by lovely, super-talented creatives and get to use my design talents to help too. What’s not to love?
I’m a designer who creates sewing patterns, kits, and handembroidered products, all inspired by the handmade patterns I discovered in my late mother’s old sewingbox tin.
In 2024 I popped along to one of the Makers Cornwall get togethers simply to meet other makers, and I felt instantly welcomed. My background is in education and management, and when they later asked me to become the treasurer, I didn’t hesitate. They’re such a lovely, supportive group, genuinely committed to helping the amazing makers of Cornwall thrive and prosper. I’m very happy to do my bit.
I am an artist and printmaker, creating unique artworks inspired by my life in Cornwall. My work draws upon traditional printing techniques, combining lino and screen printing, produced in small batches, by hand. A graduate of the Edinburgh College of Art, I’ve established a successful career working in costume for film and T.V. My time is now split between film sets across the country and my art studio in Cornwall.
I joined Makers Cornwall to engage with Cornwall’s wider community of artists and creators and help highlight the huge weatlth of talent the county has to offer.
I am Claire, better known as windsweptgirlie. I have always had a strong need to create which has lead to quite the eclectic creative life! My current passion is for designing simple to sew craft kits, passing on the joy of making to others is a great feeling.
I joined the Makers Cornwall team in 2019. It’s wonderful to be part of this fantastic creative community. Being self-employed can sometimes feel a little isolating, but Makers Cornwall offers a fantastic network of support, friendly in-person meet-ups and an encouraging and knowledgeable online Facebook group.
I’m an Artist-Illustrator-Printmaker from Cornwall. I create nature-inspired original hand-pressed linocut, and woodcut prints from my cosy home next to the Penryn River in South Cornwall. Working mainly from my own sketches, drawings and photographs, I combine simple colour combinations with an often figurative style. I have been practising printmaking for over 12 years but in a professional capacity since 2021. In addition to printmaking and illustration, I am a language teacher, organic grocer, festival manager, copywriter and most importantly a mother of two boys. I’m originally from North Cornwall but now live in Falmouth.
I’ve participated as a stall holder at Makers Cornwall Christmas Fair numerous times and I’m delighted to join the team this year to offer my skills and time.
I am a jeweller and teacher based in Falmouth. I work predominantly in silver and teach a wide range of Jewellery Workshops. My own work has developed in recent years when I fell in love with water casting moten silver. I now have a separate jewellery brand, Laura Polly, which explores and celebrates the Cornish landscape.
I proudly joined the Makers Cornwall team in spring 2025 and I value being part of the creative community that comes with it. Not only does the team run the best Christmas Fair in the county, they are also inspiring, knowledgeable and funny. It is a pleasure to be part of the gang.
This is my sixth year as part of Makers Cornwall. Like many members of the team, my first encounter with Makers was at one of the fantastic coffee mornings. I arrived in Cornwall in 2019 not knowing anyone, and Makers quickly became my first point of connection and community.
Since then I have become closely involved with the organisation, contributing as part of the governance team, helping to recruit volunteers, and supporting many aspects of Makers’ work. My background is in project management, arts education and exhibitions. I am also a practising artist based in Porthleven, and my work is sold nationally and internationally.
For me, Makers Cornwall represents warmth, creativity, and place of sharing and friendship.
I’ve worked as a freelance illustrator for many years. Since moving to Cornwall I’ve fallen in love with ever changing tangled Cornish hedgerows and the flora and fauna growing wild along the coastal paths. I spend most of my days drawing and sketching what makes me happy when I’m out walking my dog.
The creative talent in Cornwall is phenomenal and I feel very lucky to be part of such an inspirational group of supportive women that make up the Makers Cornwall team. I feel incredibly happy and honoured that I get to help organise and promote our fabulous Christmas Fiar and shout about amazing local makers through our social media platforms.
We won’t bombard you and we’ll keep it relevant.
